2022 ORC Across the States Study

The Loss Prevention Research Council (LPRC), Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF), and Loss Prevention Magazine (LPM) conducted a survey of ORC investigators and multi-store loss prevention managers across the United States. The goal of this research was to better understand the causes, consequences, and control of ORC throughout the United States at the state level.

187 participants completed the survey and provided data on the following targeted focus areas:

Trends in organized retail crime
Consequences of ORC for retail workers, consumers, communities, and retail companies
Retailers’ response to organized retail crime
Perceptions of law enforcement, prosecution, and public policies among the respondents
